Junior Software Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our Systems and Software team. This role offers a dynamic environment to further develop your technical skills while contributing to impactful projects.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be actively involved in designing and maintaining software components and web applications using PHP and the Laravel framework, managing databases, and providing support for in-house systems. You will also gain hands-on experience in networking and server configuration using Windows Server, IIS, Ubuntu Server, and NGINX.

Salary – £25,000-£30,000 – determined by experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components and webpages using PHP and Laravel.
• Manage and optimize databases; generate reports and scripts using SQL.
• Perform basic networking and configuration tasks with Windows Server, IIS, Ubuntu Server, and NGINX.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and enhance in-house systems.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in PHP programming language.
• Foundational knowledge of MVC software design principles.
• A 2:1 in Computer Science or equivalent degree (Desirable but not required)
• Basic understanding of SSL and DNS configuration.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• A proactive approach to design and implementation
