Business air travel tips

Whether you are a frequent flyer or only occasionally venture overseas for work, the experience will no doubt impact on your personal time and energy levels. We’ve put together some tips to help make air travel easier for you.

  1. Check in online

Most airlines offer check-in 24 hours before your flight departs. Not only can you choose your seat, but sometimes the earlier you check in, the higher your chances are of being upgraded.

  1. When choosing your seat, avoid the first few rows of each seating section

That’s usually where families with children are seated, so if you would prefer a quieter area, sit further back.

  1. Avoid turbulence

During turbulence, the plane rocks like a seesaw. If you’re in the middle, it’ll feel a little less bumpy.

  1. Try and exercise before your flight

Exercising helps reduce stress, and we all know how stressful airports can be. It will help you to fall asleep or rest on the plane. If nothing at all, make the most of terminal shopping, you won’t even realise you are exercising!

  1. Eat well

Pack yourself some snacks, just in case, and try to eat regularly. You need to keep your energy levels up.

  1. Change your time zone as soon as you board

To avoid jet lag, sync yourself as early as possible. It will help you if you try and fit in with your new time zone as soon as possible, so get some sleep if it’s night time at your destination when you board the plane.

  1. Invest in a portable phone charger

And download movies to your phone or tablet, just in case the in-flight entertainment is not to your taste.

  1. Always bring a jumper or hoodie on board

Even if you’re not cold enough to wear it, you can roll it up and use it as a pillow.

  1. Stay hydrated

Aeroplanes are very dehydrating, so drink plenty of water and pack lip balm and moisturiser in your hand luggage.
