Our Business Travel Consultant, Adam Baker was recently very lucky and went to Athens with Hilton Hotels.
Greece is a country that has a large amount of territory that consists of 2 mainland peninsulas & thousands of islands located in the Aegean & Ionian Seas – all located in South East Europe. But in this blog I will be writing about my business experience to the capital city Athens!
After arriving in the early evening, I headed straight to the Galaxy Restaurant & Bar located on the roof of the Hilton Hotel, where I was staying throughout my trip. Many commented on the beautiful 360-degree views of Athens & ancient Acropolis. Galaxy had been recently ranked as one of the top 10 roof top bars by Premier Traveller magazine & I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone planning to visit Athens
The day after my arrival, we experienced everything that the Hilton Athens had to offer, from beautiful views overlooking the city from every angle, to the vast amount of meeting and conference rooms, I went out to explore the beautiful features Athens had on offer. First on my list were the Acropolis, which is located on an old and rocky outcrop above the city of Greece containing remains of several ancient buildings – the famous being the Parthenon! Of course while in Athens, you can’t afford to miss out on visiting on one of the main attractions -the famous Olympic Stadium!
After experiencing what the city had to offer I then travelled to one of the neighbourhoods called Plaka. Plaka is one of the oldest and most famous neighbourhoods in Athens in the shadow of the Acropolis; here was the perfect opportunity to test the wine while indulging in lunch surrounded by the stunning views of Athens. In the evening we spent dinner down by the harbour overlooking the beautiful coast line of Athens.
On my final day before departing back to the UK, I got to witness the changing of the guards. This happens on the hour every hour every day which many tourists hope to experience while in Greece. The last stop of on our trip before heading back to the airport was to a recycling museum where everything was made from recycling. It was an incredible insight to what can be made with waste that can be used again; it was a fun experience that topped off a great weekend.
